Trying to activate my VMO via its motor point to relieve tension from my IT Band. Motor points are the entrance sites of the motor nerve into the muscles. They connect the brain, nervous system and the muscles together so they function properly. They are also used for increasing range of motion, help regain muscle strength and get you back to your sport and/or daily activities more quickly.
Cupping of the IT Band. I like to use needles to release or activate individual muscles (like on the pic above) and cupping to target fascial tightness.
Modern research has confirmed cupping reduces pain, inflammation while stimulating an immune protective response that can persist for days following treatment. Cupping is a valuable treatment for musculoskeletal problems as well as internal organ conditions including respiratory and hepatic inflammation.
In Chinese Medicine cupping moves stuck qi, blood and fluids. The marks should fade in 2-4days. Slower fading indicates poor circulation and treatment should be repeated frequently till the marks fade away sooner (=when circulation improves)
