Explanation of hyper / hypo mobility - a common cause of pain in the spine

A healthy spine is able to move in all directions. But due to our forward lifestyle of sitting, driving, texting, not balanced workouts etc we focus on only one direction of movement, and we lose both flexibility and stability in all other directions.
When some parts of the spine become stiff (hypomobile), the segments above and below compensate for this lack of movement and become hypermobile (too much movement).
Junctions (SO CT TL LS) tend to be stiff. Mid regions tend to be hyper mobile.  Stiff areas aren’t usually painful, hyper mobile areas tend to be painful - just like in real life - the victims cry not the perpetrators. However if you don’t treat both, ultimately you won’t be succesful.
Therefore you have to strengthen the hypermobile and mobilizing the hypomobile parts.
And one of the best and most effective ways is, by doing exercises focused on spinal articulations.
